Syracuse takes home 2 honors in 1st CHA weekly awards

Syracuse took home two College Hockey America awards this week after a two-game sweep of Post.

After winning its opening two games of the season against Post on Friday and Saturday, Syracuse women’s ice hockey was awarded two College Hockey Association, the league announced on Monday.

Graduate student Allie Kelley took home the CHA goaltender of the week while freshman Nea Tervonen won rookie of the week.

Kelley posted a shutout in her Syracuse debut and allowed two goals in her second game. In both games combined, she made 27 saves on 29 shots, finishing with a .931 save percentage.

Tervonen starred at the center position, winning 30 faceoffs in the two matchups. She also scored her first collegiate goal in Saturday’s game, an eventual 3-2 win for the Orange.



Both awards were the first CHA honors for Kelley and Tervonen.
